IT IS OFFICIAL! SYDNEY HAS EMBRACED THE UNDERGROUND!
It was cold and a school night, yet hundreds flocked to the Vanguard in Newtown on the 31st of July, to share in the celebration of the official launch of the first annual Sydney Underground Film Festival.

2SER and Underlapper provided the tunes and festival directors Stefan Popescu and Katherine Berger provided the tease with a preview screening that more than whet the appetite of the film hungry audience.

“It’s about time Sydney had something like this” was the general consensus of the evening, alluding to a renaissance of the underground scene that existed in the 60’s and 70’s pioneered by the UBU filmmakers.

David Perry, John Clark and Paul Winkler were there, supporting the underground film future as SUFF acknowledges and honours them; our rich underground past, created by these brilliant filmmakers.

The night was a stellar success. The scene was aglow with the anticipation for the festival, which kicks off in just over three weeks at the Factory Theatre in Enmore, opening September 7.
