Standard Ticket: $30 / Concession Ticket: $25
The Sydney Underground Film Festival opening night will feature a great program of Australian and International films including premieres by David Lynch, Paul Winkler, Martha Colburn, Cristian Pozo and the opening night feature, Tin Can Man, by young emerging Irish filmmaker, Ivan Kavanagh. Tin Can Man is a not to be missed Australian premiere that draws you in and then spits you out as it unfurls with frightening rapidity and leaves you fumbling, weeping in a Lynchian carnivale of depravity! This surrealist merry-go-round is tempered with the character dynamics of Haneke, and the cinematic atmosphere of Aronofsky.
Entrees will be served prior to the opening night film program and then an after-party of food and drink will then be supplied thanks to Inspire Foods, Brewtopia, and Lark Distillery and a live performance by the amazing CODA. |

| SATURDAY 8th |
7:15pm : Session 2 : MANUFACTURING DISSENT |

Standard Ticket: $10 / Concession Ticket: $8
This more overtly political strand is an eye-opening program, exposing more lies about the war in the Middle East and communicates local and global concerns about conflict and war, the environment, and corruption. This program will be introduced by a Stop the War Coalition / Stobush2007.org advocate.
The program features shorts by Trevor Wills, Mahmoud Yekta, Martha Colburn, Atanas Djonov and the shocking documentary, Gulf War Syndrome: Killing Our Own, by seasoned filmmaker, Gary Null. We have heard about the problems of using depleted Uranium, but this documentary goes further: uncovering and exposing more lies told by the US Government to its soldiers, particularly about the true nature of ‘Gulf War Syndrome’. A must-see documentary particularly in this time of senseless war, as the death toll of innocent people in the Middle East and in the West continues to rise. |
| SATURDAY 8th |

Standard Ticket: $20 / Concession Ticket: $15
The Sydney Underground Film Festival closing night kicks off with the early film program, “MATERIAL AFFECTS”, which features some significant new and historical films. The ticket price includes this early session.
Following the 6:30pm session will be the closing night feature, “The Memory Thief”, by Gil Kofman. The Memory Thief is the story of Lukas – an aimless young man in contemporary L.A., who buries thoughts of his own past in his humdrum routine as a tollbooth clerk. A chance encounter with a Holocaust survivor suddenly brings into focus a world and an identity he embraces with frightening intensity – the victimized Jews of World War II. As he begins to enthusiastically act out this newfound obsession, Lukas behaves like survivor’s guilt isn’t just for the Jews anymore. The Memory Thief is a mesmerizing, audacious debut feature by Kofman, created in the vein and tradition of TAXI DRIVER. The film was edited by Curtiss Clayton who cut To Die For, Drugstore Cowboy, and Buffalo 66. It stars Mark Webber (The Hottest State, Broken Flowers) and Rachel Miner (Bully).
Following the feature, filmmakers will be awarded for their creativity and originality. 2SER RADIO will then present us with special musical guests and a closing night party to end the festival on a high! |
